The compactor has a three stage cycle, each with its own color coded advance warning.

The solid green light denotes the machines resting cycle. The compactor spends exactly 75% of its time at this stage. This allows, not only for additions and subtractions to be made to the containment chamber, but also for ample time for routine maintence and cleaning.

The second stage is marked by a change of status light from green to amber. During this stage the steam hydrolic systems activate and begin to build the necessary pressure.
